The Ultimate Guide to Resurrecting Your Wormery

Worms are picky little critters who don’t like neat waste. To restart your wormery, focus on providing the perfect bedding. Here’s the scoop:

Bedding Choices:
Best Bet: Worm casts (leftover from previous kits)
Other Options: Soaked cardboard, peat moss, shredded paper, or a coir bedding block (just soak and go)
Bonus: Add a couple of cupfuls of soil for beneficial bugs and bacteriaAim for a bedding layer 6-10 cm deep to give your worms a cozy start.

Choosing the Right Worms:
Fun Fact: There are 27 species of UK earthworms, but you need composting worms like reds, brandlings, dendras, and tigers.
- *Starter Pack Begin with at least 250g of composting worms, but 500g is even better.

Setting Up:
Morning Routine: Set up your wormery in the morning and leave the lid off all day. This encourages worms to burrow away from the light.
Escapees?: Don’t worry if some worms wander off. Place your wormery on soil so any escapees can benefit your garden.

Adding Waste:
Ready to Go: After a couple of days, your worms will be settled and ready to tackle more waste. Keep adding scraps as long as they’re working on it.
