From Our Fields to Your Feeders
We grow and source as much of our bird food as it is possible to grow in the British climate, here on our farm in Herefordshire and with other UK growers.
This year alone we are adding a further 35 acres of bird seed grown at Lower Blakemere Farm, and our aim is simple: to keep increasing the proportion of British-grown, responsibly farmed bird food in every mix we make, year on year.

GROWN AND MADE IN THE UK
These are bird foods made in the UK using British-grown ingredients wherever possible, and mixed and packed here on our farm.
Crops such as wheat, barley, oats, sunflower, linseed and other oilseeds can all be grown in our climate, and every year we are increasing the area grown specifically for bird feeding.
Choosing these products means:
• Supporting British farmers
• Reducing food miles
• Feeding birds food suited to our landscape
• Avoiding cheap, filler-heavy imports
BLENDS WITH BRITISH AT THEIR HEART
Some of our mixes combine home-grown British seed with a small number of specialist ingredients that cannot be grown here but are important for bird health and species diversity.
They are built around British crops wherever possible, with carefully sourced additions only where they genuinely add value.
Our direction is clear: more British-grown content each year, and clarity about what’s in every bag.
Alongside British-grown seed, we also work with UK producers to supply high-energy foods such as suet pellets, fat balls and maize balls.
While not every ingredient can be grown in Britain, they are made here by trusted farmers and manufacturers to our specification, to high welfare and quality standards, and designed to give garden birds the energy they need, especially in colder months.

LIVE MEALWORMS – EUROPEAN FARMED, PACKED BY US
Live mealworms are one of the most valuable foods for garden birds, especially in winter and during breeding season. How they are farmed matters.
Ours come from a specialist farmer we have known and trusted for nearly 30 years, with farms in Holland and Spain. He also produces our dried mealworms.
We do not sell Chinese-grown mealworms, live or dried, and never will.
Our mealworms are grown without growth hormones, to high welfare and hygiene standards, then brought to our farm in Herefordshire where we feed, care for, sieve, weigh and pack them ourselves before dispatch.
WHAT CAN’T BE GROWN HERE – SOURCED PROPERLY
Some key bird foods simply won’t grow in our climate – Niger, peanuts and mealworms among them.
Where we have to look beyond the UK, we work with long-standing, trusted European farmers and producers who share our values: high standards, good welfare, no growth hormones, and quality before cheapness.
