There are some invitations you simply can’t turn down.
When the team behind What’s In Your Plant Pot? asked if I’d come and spend the day talking to children about worms, I said YEP before they’d finished asking!

As many of you know, I’ve spent most of my life trying to convince people that worms deserve a little more respect.
They quietly recycle our waste, improve our soil, help plants grow, reduce flooding and make gardens healthier—all without asking for any recognition whatsoever.
Watching children find this out for themselves was the best part of filming.
They asked cracking questions, weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and reminded me that curiosity is one of the most powerful things we have.
At Wiggly Wigglers we’ve always believed that if people understand what’s happening beneath their feet, they’ll care more about gardens, wildlife and our planet.
If today’s programme helps a few more families discover the magic of soil, then that will be tip top. .
A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Gold Wala, everyone at CBeebies and all the children who made the day such fun.
And of course… thank you to the worms.
They’ve been quietly saving the world all the time…
