Join the Robin Breakfast Club

If you’ve ever stepped outside with a morning cuppa and caught a robin staring at you like you owe it money, you’re already halfway to joining the Robin Breakfast Club.
And honestly, once you start… it becomes the nicest part of your day.

All you need is a handful of live mealworms and a proper robin-friendly feeder — and your garden will soon have its own tiny breakfast rush.

Why robins go mad for live mealworms

Robins are natural insect-hunters. Live mealworms tick every box:

  • High protein for chicks, fledglings and moulting birds

  • Moisture (a big deal when youngsters can’t reach water)

  • Easy, fast energy first thing in the morning

  • Movement that triggers natural feeding behaviour

Give a robin live mealworms for a few days and they’ll be waiting in the same spot the next morning — sometimes even tapping the window.

How to start your Robin Breakfast Club

Wiggly Wigglers Gift Card by Post – A Real Gift for Real Gardeners (and Real Worms) £10 / Robin

1. Same place, same time

Birds adore routine. Put a small handful of live mealworms out each morning. Within a week you’ll have a regular.

2. Use a robin-safe feeder

Our I Love Robins Feeder is ideal:

  • Stops the mealworms escaping

  • Robins feel safe perching and feeding

  • Perfect for hanging outside the kitchen window

They’re bold little birds — they’ll hop right up to it.

3. Keep the feeder sheltered

A spot near a hedge, shrub or wall gives birds a safe “in-and-out” route.
They like a quick getaway, even when they trust you.

4. Little and often

A small serving daily is better than lots at once. It mimics natural foraging and avoids waste.

5. Add a clean dish of water

Especially in summer when fledglings can’t travel far.
Live mealworms provide moisture — but a water dish makes your garden a proper wildlife hub.

6. Be patient… but not for long

Robins are quick learners. If there’s food and you’re consistent, they’ll appear. Some customers even end up hand-feeding (if you fancy trying, just stay still and let them take the lead).

Why morning feeding matters so much

After a long night, birds wake up depleted.
Your morning mealworms provide:

  • The first vital protein of the day

  • Support for exhausted parents feeding chicks

  • Hydration for little ones who can’t reach water

  • A real boost during moulting season

It’s one of the simplest, most effective ways to help wildlife right on your doorstep.
