What Worms Do I Need for My Raised Beds?

If you’re setting up raised beds, it’s a great idea to think beyond just soil and compost — you need the right worms too. A mix of deep-burrowing garden worms (Lumbricus terrestris) and surface-dwelling composting worms (Eisenia fetida & Dendrobaena veneta) works best. Garden worms improve drainage and aeration deep in the soil, while composting worms break down organic matter at the surface, turning it into nutrient-rich castings.

The Worms for Raised Beds Kit conveniently supplies this beneficial combination. The two types complement each other and help establish a thriving soil ecosystem — particularly in no-dig systems where you want organic activity to do the hard work.
