Seasonal Fuel for Garden Birds — Freshly Mixed on Our Herefordshire Farm

When the berries fade and the bugs disappear, garden birds need a helping hand.
Our Autumn Seasonal Birdfood Mix is designed for that exact moment — packed with the protein, fats and energy your birds need to stay strong as nights draw in.

This is no-fuss, no-filler feeding at its best — a simple, effective blend featuring black sunflower hearts, peanut granules, dried mealworms, flaked maize or rolled oats, and berry suet pellets. It’s blended here on the farm, fresh for the season, so you don’t have to think about what to feed — we’ve done the planning for you.

Who You’ll Attract
You’ll get a full autumn line-up — robins, blue tits, great tits, finches, blackbirds, sparrows and dunnocks — all grateful for the extra calories.
As insects and berries vanish, this mix gives them the boost they need to thrive through the chill.

How to Feed Them

  • Use seed feeders, tables, or ground trays.
  • Top up little and often – birds prefer fresh food, not stale leftovers.
  • Feed early morning and late afternoon to support natural feeding patterns.
  • Always leave out a dish of clean water – birds need hydration even more as the temperature drops.

Each Ingredient Plays Its Part

  • Black Sunflower Hearts: High-energy, no-mess seed every bird loves.
  • Peanut Granules: Protein-packed powerhouses – ideal for smaller birds.
  • Dried Mealworms: Natural insect replacement for protein and feather condition.
  • Flaked Maize or Rolled Oats: Gentle carbohydrates for slow-release energy.
  • Berry Suet Pellets: A fruity fat feast for warmth and calories.

Wiggly Tip:
Pop a few feeders in different spots around your garden — it gives the smaller birds a fair chance and keeps the peace at feeding time.

Our Farm-Mixed Approach
We mix and bag every Seasonal Blend right here at Lower Blakemere Farm, Herefordshire.
It’s not about being “artisan” or “exclusive” — it’s about being sensible, seasonal, and sustainable. Each blend changes with the seasons, using ingredients that suit the birds’ needs and what’s available at sensible value.
Simple, fresh, and full of life — straight from our farm to your feeder.

Sustainability & Packaging

  • Small bagsplain paper, compostable, and easy to recycle.
  • 12.55 kg sacksreusable woven polypropylene, returnable for re-use.
  • No extra outer packaging – we ship sturdy bags as they are to cut waste and fuel miles.

Wiggly Tip
Reuse your large sacks for garden trimmings, compost collection or even storing logs.

Nature Benefits
As food sources decline in autumn, your feeders become a lifeline. Birds that stay strong now are more likely to survive winter and nest successfully in spring.
Feeding them also brings more life to your garden — songbirds help control pests, spread seeds, and keep the ecosystem ticking along.

Good for You Too
There’s nothing more relaxing than a five-minute break watching your birds tuck in.
Feeding is good for the birds and great for your mind — one of the simplest ways to reconnect with the seasons.

Wiggly Tip
Keep your feeders consistent. Birds remember who feeds them — stop too long, and they’ll visit next door!

Storage & Freshness
Store in a cool, dry, sealed container — damp seed goes clumpy, warm seed attracts mites.
This mix is fresh, so it’s best enjoyed within a few weeks.

Clean your feeders every week or two to keep things healthy — it takes minutes and makes a world of difference.

Wiggly Tip: Autumn weather can turn quickly — pop feeders under a canopy or tree branch to help keep them dry.

Goes Well With
A handful of live mealworms for added insect protein,
a Wiggly Seed Feeder (the one with the wide base for easy access),
and a few British Suet Balls for that essential autumn fat boost.

Quick FAQs
Will it sprout under my feeder?
A few seeds may, but not many — the mix is mostly edible.
Is it safe for fledglings?
Yes, the mix is bite-sized and protein-rich.
How long will it keep?
Cool, dry storage: up to several months, but fresher is always better.

What our customers say

Brilliant live worms and great service! I ordered a batch of live composting worms for my new wormery, and they arrived in perfect condition — lively, healthy, and ready to get to work straight away. The packaging was eco-friendly, and the team even included a little guide on how to settle them in. My kitchen scraps are disappearing fast, and I’ve already started harvesting my first bit of worm compost. Couldn’t be happier!

Fantastic bokashi composting advice As a complete beginner to bokashi composting, I really appreciated how helpful the team were. They answered all my questions quickly and gave me simple, clear instructions to get started. The bokashi bran is top quality and smells fresh and pleasant. After just a few weeks, I’ve turned my kitchen waste into brilliant compost-ready material with no odour or mess. Highly recommended!

It attracts a lovely variety of garden birds — robins, finches, and even a pair of goldfinches have started visiting regularly. You can tell it’s a quality mix with no fillers or dust. Delivery was quick, and everything was packaged sustainably. It’s become my go-to source for bird feed!
