This winter mix is picked apart daily by:

  • Robins & Blackbirds – they love the suet, oats, and mealworms.
  • Tits (Blue, Great, Long-Tailed) – attracted to the peanuts and sunflower hearts.
  • Finches (Goldfinches & Chaffinches) – safflower, millet, and fine seeds keep them happy.
  • Woodpeckers & Nuthatches – especially keen on hearts and suet.
  • Dunnocks, Wrens, House Sparrows – ground feeders who benefit especially from millet and oatmeal.

How to feed:
Use on a platform feeder, open tray, ground table, or a standard seed feeder. For blackbirds and ground-feeding species, scattering a little under hedges or beneath shrubs works brilliantly – especially in cold weather.

Wiggly Wigglers blends all our premium seed mixes right here at Lower Blakemere Farm in Herefordshire. Our bird seed is packed onsite in either returnable woven sacks (over 7kg) or recyclable paper bags (up to 6kg). We work closely with wildlife on the farm – we’ve recorded flocks of goldfinches on the teasels and dozens of skylarks in winter.

Every bag you buy supports our regenerative mission: farming with nature, not against it. Feeding the birds is part of that. We do it. You do it. The countryside thrives.

  • Winter is cruel on small bodies – up to 10% body weight can be lost on a single cold night.
  • Bird tables help species like the song thrush, wren, and tree sparrow survive harsh months.
  • Feeding birds creates a thriving ecosystem in your garden – more song, more diversity, more small-scale predators keeping pests in check.

When you feed birds, you’re actively supporting biodiversity in your own patch of the planet.

  • Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.
  • Use within 8 weeks for best freshness.
  • Keep feeders clean to prevent disease.
  • In freezing weather, check feeders and break up any suet stuck together.

Wiggly Tip: Mix an extra handful of dried mealworms into this mix just before feeding on bitter mornings for bonus brownie points with local robins.

The Wiggly Story: Bringing Your Garden to Life.

Nestled in the heart of rural Herefordshire, within The Duchy of Cornwall estate lies Lower Blakemere Farm – the cherished home of Wiggly Wigglers and founder, Heather Gorringe. From its humble beginnings on Heather’s kitchen table over 30 years ago, our small but dedicated team is working hard on a legacy of sustainability and regeneration. Our farm isn’t merely a plot of land; it’s a dynamic hub where we’re aiming to balance food production with biodiversity and since we started our regenerative journey there’s a real focus on improving soil health and sustainability. Beyond our own endeavours, we’re passionate about sharing best practices and developing products designed to Bring your Garden to life.

What our customers say

Brilliant live worms and great service! I ordered a batch of live composting worms for my new wormery, and they arrived in perfect condition — lively, healthy, and ready to get to work straight away. The packaging was eco-friendly, and the team even included a little guide on how to settle them in. My kitchen scraps are disappearing fast, and I’ve already started harvesting my first bit of worm compost. Couldn’t be happier!

Fantastic bokashi composting advice As a complete beginner to bokashi composting, I really appreciated how helpful the team were. They answered all my questions quickly and gave me simple, clear instructions to get started. The bokashi bran is top quality and smells fresh and pleasant. After just a few weeks, I’ve turned my kitchen waste into brilliant compost-ready material with no odour or mess. Highly recommended!

Top-notch British birdseed mix The British birdseed from Wigglys is superb. It attracts a lovely variety of garden birds — robins, finches, and even a pair of goldfinches have started visiting regularly. You can tell it’s a quality mix with no fillers or dust. Delivery was quick, and everything was packaged sustainably. It’s become my go-to source for bird feed!
