Bring a slice of woodland life into your garden with the Natural Log Robin Box — a beautifully simple, sustainable home for robins and other open-front nesting birds.

Each box is made from a hollowed-out natural log, complete with bark and unique grain, providing perfect camouflage and insulation. With its large open front, it’s ideal for robins, pied wagtails, and spotted flycatchers, all of which prefer shallow, open nesting spaces rather than deep boxes.

No two are ever alike — each one is shaped and textured by nature — making this a nest box that looks as if it’s always belonged in your garden.

Key Benefits

🌿 Natural Camouflage: Made from real logs with bark intact — blends seamlessly into gardens and woodland settings.
🐦 Ideal for Open-Front Nesters: Perfect for robins, pied wagtails, and flycatchers who prefer open nest sites.
🪵 Excellent Insulation: Air-dried FSC-certified wood has low thermal conductivity to protect eggs and chicks.
🔩 Easy to Clean: Hinged lid with a simple securing screw for inspection and cleaning.
♻️ Sustainable & Beautiful: Made from responsibly sourced wood — each piece unique, durable, and naturally weather-resistant.

The Natural Log Robin Box is designed specifically for birds that prefer open-front nesting spaces.

🪶 Robins: Love sheltered, semi-open spaces close to the ground where they can slip in unnoticed.
🐦 Pied Wagtails: Often choose ledges or open nooks near people — this gives them a perfect, natural alternative.
🌼 Spotted Flycatchers: Seek shallow, open sites surrounded by foliage — exactly what this log offers.

These birds are brilliant natural pest controllers, eating insects, caterpillars, and grubs daily — so while you’re helping them, they’ll help your garden thrive.

Wiggly Tip: Site in a quiet, sheltered area, ideally shaded by shrubs or ivy. Robins like to nest about 1–2 m high and prefer somewhere with a clear flight path to the entrance.

Every box we select reflects our ethos at Lower Blakemere Farm in Herefordshire — real, practical solutions that help wildlife and farming work hand-in-hand.

The logs used for these boxes are FSC-certified, ensuring responsible forestry and sustainable use of woodland resources. Their bark and grain tell the story of real trees, not factory moulds — so you’re giving birds a home that feels just like one they’d find in the wild.

Each log is unique: the tone of the wood, the swirl of the grain, and the texture of the bark all vary naturally. That’s the beauty of it — no two are the same, but every one is full of character.

“The robins moved in within weeks — and they raised two broods last spring. Lovely to see something so natural in the garden.” — Verified Wiggly Customer

Natural materials make for calmer, safer, and more successful nesting. Birds choose spots that feel familiar — logs, ledges, or hollow stumps — and this design mimics that perfectly.

🌳 For the Birds: Safe, camouflaged shelter that looks and feels natural.
🌼 For Biodiversity: Encourages insect-eating species that help balance your garden’s ecosystem.
🐛 For You: Enjoy watching one of Britain’s friendliest birds raise its young, right on your doorstep.
🌿 For the Planet: Made from FSC wood, not plastic — compostable, durable, and sustainable.

Wiggly Tip: Don’t add nesting material — robins are meticulous nest builders and prefer to furnish it themselves.

Siting: Place 1–2 m from the ground, tucked into a hedge, climber, or shrub. Robins prefer quiet, shaded areas close to cover.
Aspect: North or east-facing avoids overheating and keeps conditions stable.
Mounting: Hang via the hole in the rear backplate; ensure it’s secure and angled slightly forward to shed rain.
Cleaning: After the breeding season (Sept–Feb), loosen the securing screw, lift the hinged lid, and remove old nesting material.
Finish: You can treat the exterior with a natural, water-based wood protector if you wish, but the bark surface weathers beautifully over time.

Wiggly Tip: Don’t peek during nesting — robins can abandon eggs or chicks if disturbed.

What our customers say

Brilliant live worms and great service! I ordered a batch of live composting worms for my new wormery, and they arrived in perfect condition — lively, healthy, and ready to get to work straight away. The packaging was eco-friendly, and the team even included a little guide on how to settle them in. My kitchen scraps are disappearing fast, and I’ve already started harvesting my first bit of worm compost. Couldn’t be happier!

Fantastic bokashi composting advice As a complete beginner to bokashi composting, I really appreciated how helpful the team were. They answered all my questions quickly and gave me simple, clear instructions to get started. The bokashi bran is top quality and smells fresh and pleasant. After just a few weeks, I’ve turned my kitchen waste into brilliant compost-ready material with no odour or mess. Highly recommended!

Top-notch British birdseed mix The British birdseed from Wigglys is superb. It attracts a lovely variety of garden birds — robins, finches, and even a pair of goldfinches have started visiting regularly. You can tell it’s a quality mix with no fillers or dust. Delivery was quick, and everything was packaged sustainably. It’s become my go-to source for bird feed!
