What are your top tips for Birdfeeding?
Feeding birds is one of the easiest ways to support wildlife β and itβs a joy to watch π
Get the basics right (this makes all the difference):
π Use the right feeder for the right food

Seed feeders β seed mixes / sunflower hearts

Suet feeders β suet blocks or balls

Mealworm feeders β for live mealworms (or use a steep sided shallow dish)
π Avoid bird tables if you can
They encourage mess, waste and can spread disease
π Keep everything clean

Wash feeders regularly

Move feeding spots occasionally

Donβt let food build up underneath

Suet β high energy (and not just for winter anymore β birds use it all year)

Live mealworms β the closest thing to a natural diet
Why LIVE mealworms are best:
π High in moisture (birds need hydration, especially in dry weather)
π Natural protein source for growth and repair
π Perfect for robins, bluetits, great tits and nesting birds
π Dried mealworms are fine β but live are far more beneficial
A couple of simple tips:
π If birds arenβt coming β give it time, they will find it
π Feed little and often β fresh is best
π Position feeders near cover so birds feel safe from predators
