Wiggly Wigglers Bags: Reuse, Recycle, and Repurpose

At Wiggly Wigglers, we are always looking for ways to support sustainability and environmental consciousness. Whilst we no longer operate the Green Points Bag Return scheme, we are keen to share some creative ideas for reusing and repurposing our packaging, helping you make the most of these materials at home or on the farm.

Reuse at Home

Wiggly Paper Bags: Our sturdy two-ply paper bags are designed for durability, meaning they can be reused multiple times. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

•  Weed Collection: These bags are perfect for collecting garden weeds, which can then be directly added to your compost pile.
•  Storage for Veggies: Ideal for storing your homegrown vegetables like potatoes, these bags offer a breathable environment, keeping your produce fresh longer.
• Composting: When they’ve served their purpose, simply recycle or compost these paper bags—they break down easily and contribute to healthy soil.

Wiggly Large Plastic Bags: Our large plastic bags are versatile and practical, with endless possibilities for reuse:

• Compost Sacks: These bags make excellent containers for creating your own compost. Fill them with garden waste or kitchen scraps and let nature do its work.
• Potato Storage: If you grow your own potatoes, these bags are great for keeping your harvest in a cool, dark place.
• DIY Bokashi Composting: You can even repurpose these bags to make your own Bokashi compost. Just add your kitchen scraps and Bokashi Bran, tie the top to keep it airtight, and let it ferment for a couple of weeks. Once ready, the mixture can be added to your compost heap or directly into your garden soil, enriching it with nutrients.

Reuse at the Farm

If you prefer to return your large plastic bags to us, we are happy to repurpose them at Wiggly Wigglers. Where we can we reuse these bags for local orders and on our farm, where they line stillages for bulk seed and Bokashi storage.

Recycling

Our large plastic bags are made from Type 5 Polypropylene (5PP), which is highly recyclable. Many local councils offer recycling schemes for this type of plastic, so be sure to check with your local authority to see how you can recycle them. By recycling, you’re helping to reduce waste and contribute to a more sustainable environment.
