At Lower Blakemere Farm we’ve had Piggy Bank and Hedge Fund – now it’s time for Pond Tipping. Not about chucking rubbish in, but tipping the balance back in favour of life.

We’ve got an old farm pond that’s lost its sparkle. Over the next three years, with your support, we’re going to turn it into a multi-purpose wildlife haven – buzzing with dragonflies, croaking with frogs, splashing with ducks, humming with bees, swooping with bats, alive with fish, and safe for cattle to drink without wrecking the banks.

This isn’t a commercial farm job – there’s no way the farm could justify the £15,000 it will take. Instead, Team Wiggly will fund it together, and the farm team will roll up their sleeves to do the planting, building, stocking, and caring.

The Three-Year Plan 📅

• Year 1 – Tip the Scales: Winter groundwork, water tests, planting marginals, meadow reseeding, habitat piles, and training cattle with GPS collars.

• Year 2 – Tip in Life: Build a reed bed for clean inflow, add more trees and marginals, stock native fish, and watch frogs, dragonflies, and wildflowers flourish.

• Year 3 – Tip into Balance: Final touches – fishing pegs, duck raft, seating spots – and a Pond Tipping Picnic to celebrate.
