Hungry, Hungry Worms!

Despite lacking teeth, worms prove to be remarkably efficient composters. They thrive on a diverse diet, and here’s a compilation of their absolute favourites.
Their tiny mouths are adept at processing soft and wet food, making it their preferred choice.

At the top of their preference list are:
  • Avocado and banana skins mixed with coffee grounds
  • Melon rinds, including cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, etc. They particularly enjoy sweet foods with soft flesh.
  • Non-citrus fruits like berries, apples, pears, etc. Exercise caution with citrus fruits, as an excess may harm their sensitive skin.
  • Squashes, given their soft and easily consumable flesh.
It’s perfectly acceptable to provide a mix of these foods to your worms. Introduce your waste gradually, avoiding excessive volume, and watch as your worms efficiently recycle it into the finest compost and liquid feed for your plants.
If you find yourself with an abundance of these food items, currently being discarded in your regular bin, it might be the perfect time to venture into Worm Composting!
Our innovative Urbalive Worm Composter simplifies the composting process, making it easy, visually appealing, and odour-free. For more information, visit: Wiggly Wigglers - Worm Composting.
