Live Mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) are our best selling live food, and the number one choice for feeding wild birds. They are the larvae of the Flour Beetle, a native British insect which eats flour, meal, grain and other related crops. Their bodies are made up of over 48% crude protein and 40% fat making them an excellent, proven food for all insect eating garden birds.
Robins, as you can see from the photo here, just love them. They are the perfect food for young chicks and adults alike.
How to store: Mealworms can easily be stored in a garage or utility room because they are clean and odourless. They keep well at room temperature. Should you wish to store them for longer you can transfer them to the warmest part of your fridge, away from the icebox.
LIVE! Food orders received Monday to Friday before noon will be despatched on the same day by First Class Mail.

I have been feeding 500 grams of Wiggly Wigglers live mealworms every week together with mixed seeds and fat balls for about 2 years now.
We have 23 different birds visit us daily. I put the mealworms into 5 seperate feeders at about 8.00am and they are all gone by 9.00am.

Robins love them and if you try and keep to the same time of day to fill up your mealworm hut they will be close by waiting. I whistle and they come and sit on the shed roof watching but I'm trying to get them to eat out my hand.........it'll come. Just one set back with the deliveries, could they be numbered on the delivery note so that I know when I get to No. 5 I need to re-order.

I have been ordering live mealies for some years now and have never been disappointed with the fantastic service and delivery. However, I am now mobbed, chattered at and spied on by the local blackbirds (who are the worst), tits, sparrows and robins. One blackbird lands on the pergola outside our conservatory and runs along it towards the door with his beady eyes not leaving me for a second. He also stamps his feet on the plastic roof if I take too long to put the mealies out. Drives the dog nutty. The others mainly use window feeders and I'm sure they frown and sigh when they're empty. My other half has nicknamed our garden the 'mealie cafe' and complains when the blackbirds mob him as he walks up the garden path from work. We wouldn't change a thing though.

Been buying mealworms for 6yrs now but not only for our blind blackbird that we adopted when it was mauled by a cat. He will not eat dried ones so he looks forward to your worm delivery with great gusto. He would like them a bit fatter but since he's now 7yrs old I guess he'll make do. Thank you for quick delivery as worms are to him what chocolate is to me!! Never thought I'd have them in my fridge but life is a great teacher. Thanks again. Ann G

Wow. These wonderful mealworm have enabled me to fulfil a lifelong ambition of feeding a wild Robin from my hand. Ordered on Monday, arrived on Tuesday, started tempting the Robin on Tuesday evening, and by Thursday evening the Robin was feeding on them from my hand. Great product (although the worms came with no bran, only paper). This certainly won't be my last order. Thanks very much :-)

We purchased these in Feb for our hens and the garden birds. Housed in an old biscuit tin with a piece of apple or cucumber for moisture, they are as fresh as they day we received them. Hens go mad when they see the biscuit tin... Great product would highly recommend. Nice and clean to keep too, no smells, no flies.

Your Wonderful Mealworms have once again worked their magic!!! Mr & Mrs Robin are feeding their brood like mad things all day, but now they've got the blackbirds, dunnocks and sparrows to share with - time to order more wigglers, I think! xx

These are great! The birds are coming to get them while I am putting them out and my chickens love them too! I keep them in my shed and they are fine although I do have the occasional escapee!

I started feeding mealworms while the weather was wickedly wintery and was surprised to see that the birds were reluctant to take them at first; I think they had got unused to the cage worm feeder. I then put worms out on a tray and the birds started feeding off them and slowly began to use the cage feeder. Now, however, there is no lack of birds filing up at the back door : great tits, blue tits, dunnocks, robins, a nuthatch, blackcaps, blackbirds. It is wonderful that my robin is at the back door as soon as s/he sees movement behind the glass and sings loudly the moment I step outside. What clever birds! 500g of worms don't last long but who cares?

Well, the wonderful mealworms have worked their wiggly magic again - my robins have built their nest in the shed and now Mr is taking worms to Mrs who is incubating, how exciting!!!

I can't leave the worms out as the starlings demolish them so a pair of robins literally whistle for me at the kitchen window. Several time a day I trot out obediently with my big tub of worms. When they've had their fill I go indoors and a pair of blackbirds come and clear up the rest. When the babies come I'll be exhausted. By the way my 500 gm of worms eat a weetabix a day and 3 or 4 slices of apple.!

Took them a bit of time to realise how good they were but now have blue tits galore and the robins also have found them and love them. If kept cool (even in a fridge) they last brilliantly.

I often feed mealworms to the birds in my garden and they love them but I think it may be helpful to point out something to potential new customers. If they (people not the birds!) are unfamiliar with live mealworms they may think that they are similar to maggots and may associate them with being unclean squidgy smelly critters. Can I just assure anyone thinking of making a purchase that these worms do not have an odour and are firm to the touch. If you are a little squeemish there is no need to avoid buying them (or indeed touching them) you will be highly rewarded by the appreciation of the birds that visit to eat them.

I live in France where I am unable to get live mealworms, but buy them from WW when I come to England.
On more than one occasion, I saw a wasp - yes a wasp - taking a meal worm, having killed it first by stinging it.
Even more strange was that I later found a dead wasp in the feeder. Did the mealworms gang up and kill the Wasp?
I find they keep for weeks in the fridge - mealworms, not wasps.
I have moved house and my bird numbers are increasing, so will try them with mealworms, which I will order for my next visit.

I rely on the mealworms (and waxworms) for my avairy birds as several are not the traditional seed eating types, however a wild robin has worked out my morning feeding routine and now tries to come in through the avairy door to get some of his own - I think I may have to order a bigger bag just so I can share!

I have a lonely young jackdaw - we think he was a 'runt' - who we've named Rudolf because the other jackdaws won't let him join in any jackdaw games ... he loves the worms and flies as close to me as he dares at feeding time. Because he's so tame I wait until he's had enough before I go away - to give him a proper chance at the worms before the other birds get there. He also gets 'top ups' through the day to make sure he's getting a good start in life!

I have been using mealworms for over a year now feeding the wild birds. But 4 weeks ago my spaniel fetched in a young thrush that had fell out of the nest she gently put it on the settee next to me. It wasn't injured so we decided to try and bring it on as we didn't know where she had found it, then let it go. we fed it on mealworms which it squawked for every 2 hours, it eventually came and sat on our hand and waited to be fed. It is now old enough to go and is feeding itself. We let it go on Monday and it flew straight on to my shoulder and promptly fell asleep. i think we've got a friend for life and it just loves your mealworms.

I originally purchased meal worms for the wild birds during the nesting season. Our 3 chickens soon began chasing me when the yellow bucket appeared, easy then to get them off the veg. plot and back into their run when necessary. The 3 pullets bought on Saturday have already realised that the yellow bucket is worth investigation! Robin is always close by not wanting to be left out during his very busy nesting season!

Our male robin follows me around our garden and even into the house when he wants feeding live meal worms. He sits outside the kitchen door and sings until I go to feed him. He is now on his 3rd brood. His mate is very nervous, she won't stay as close as he does.

This was my first time using meal worms. I was a bit squeamish at first but I'm getting used to the wrigglers now. The birds have gone bananas - they love them. The blackbird can't put enough in his mouth. I even saw a wasp fly off with one. I am a meal worm convert!

I am a frequent orderer of mealy worms and wax worms, especially during the breeding season. The birds love them. I always think it is nice to give the poor parent birds a helping hand and as our Blue Tit Box is only a few feet from the Bird Table and Feeding Station the parent birds, who normally work so hard to feed their young, simply have to fly a few feet to find a good safe supply of live food. Blackbirds and Starling especially love taking huge beakfuls to feed their chicks. It is also nice when, after leaving the nest, the chicks are brought to the table by their parents and fed in front of you.

Since putting out the mealworms and getting enormous pleasure sitting only inches away whilst the blackbirds gather mouthfulls from the dish - I now have a blackbird 'fan club' who actually follow behind me in a morning and evening standing very close to me and watching in anticipation as I fill their dish! Also so as the smaller birds get a 'look in' I have a hanging caged worm feeder and have successfuly taken photos of the bluetits gathering the worms - who needs telly when all this is going on!
Sheila Cooksey wrote this 5 star review
Right - lesson one - these worms move fast and are escape artists! I learned the hard way to put them straight into a container (bucket with a lid for me) and not to leave them in the delivery bag with the top cut!! It took me several hours to round them up in my garage!
Lesson two - if you stand watching the birds feed all day you will get through a whole bag no problems. My (?) Robin hops up to the kitchen window when the feeder is empty and he GLARES at me. So I have learned to top up 2-3 times a day and WALK AWAY! I have a family of Robins, Sparrows and Great Tits feeding daily. Mr Blackbird will pick up the scattered sultanas & old grapes but not the mealworms which seems a bit strange. He and his misses drink the red grape juice / stewed fruit juice I leave out though.
I must say that I am 100% pleased with Wiggly Wiggler's worms and I don't even eat them!!
bryan wrote this 5 star review
Uptake was a bit slow at first, being honest I was rather disappointed, I have a squadron of dependent blackbirds and tits, but they'd rather have stuck to the sultanas (blackies) and nuts (tits)that they were used to. Perhaps it was the thought of eating something that moved that scared them not being used to it lol. However, now we have at least one clever female blackie (named gertie) who gobbles (hence gertie) the whole dishful in one go, about 30 worms. Also a robin is rather partial, eating mealworms and taking a wax worm for later. I've had to place a bigger order though as our woodpecker has found the bowl of worms and will take a beakful back to his weans as often as he can, has been spotted visiting the bowl about once every 2 minutes over at least half hour periods. waiting for the inevitable crash of the tree as his broods weight collapses their tree :D thanks wiggly, you've turned a shy, infrequent visitor into a bold one, as he now squeaks at us when the worms are done.

My husband gave me a nesting box with camera for Xmas and we have been watching blue tits building their nest etc., right up to laying 9 eggs of which 3 chubby chicks have survived. The best bit though, is going out with the meal worms and having the parents fluttering above my head in anticipation of the meal worms and then we watch as they come back into the nest with the worms ,it is just enthralling and such a time waster.Of course the other birds in the garden have caught on too and starlings, robins, sparrows, crows rooks and jackdaws have all benefitted from the supply too. The staggered ordering system is wonderful. We are certainly fans and I'm sure the birds are even more so.

I am a new customer and have just taken delivery this a.m. of the 500g of mealworms that I ordered on Sunday. I'd like to congratulate you on the speed and efficiency of your delivery. The birds are going through the worms at a rate of knots and I've had the pleasure of watching the Great Tits that are nesting in a woodcrete nextbox opposite my living room windows collecting worms from the feeder and taking them back to the nest. This is the first year that I have fed mealworms so consistently and in such quantity and it is because your pricing makes it affordable. Great stuff!!

Very pleased with the mealworms but would have awarded 5 stars if there had been a little more bran in with them to keep a little longer. I purchased 2 X 1kg bags. Come on Wiggly Wigglers, a little more bran please.

The robins have enjoyed the mealworms but the blackbird couple have enjoyed them even more - it has been fascinating watching them line them up neatly in their beaks to take back to the nest - worth every penny - to us and the birds! And we saw a thrush in our garden for the first time last week - since moving to Suffolk.

I have been buying mealworms for about 3 years now, and the birds just love them! I find the 500g multimail the easiest option, just one call to Wiggly Wigglers and I'm stocked up for 6 weeks, although when the birds are feeding their young, I end up buying 2 500g boxes a week - maybe you could offer a bulk buying discount?

I ordered some Wiggly seed and mealworms for the Big Birdwatch. This was the first time I'd used LIVE mealworms so was hoping our busy garden birds would like them. Almost a week later and only the odd worm had gone. I was saddened as even the two robins only took one or two every day.
Suddenly the VERY next day I checked, they were all gone! My partner kindly informed me that our resident blackbird and a family or sparrows had suddenly found the discovery and eaten the lot! :)
I will definitely be buying more as we get the sparrow family back every year! :)

We have been handfeeding robins for many years, but we started with breadcrumbs, then heard about mealworms from a specialist shop. One ("Oliver") became so tame, he once sat on my head when I was watching other birds through binoculars. We now have 3 tame female great tits - several will sit on the hand (one at a time!), but only one robin dares. Robin personalities clearly vary greatly, and most of them are less bold than the great tits, which is not really expected.

I have at least 2 robins both v. friendly and v. demanding. Will follow anybody around the garden until they are fed. They also remember where we keep the worms so will sit on the shed roof until they are produced. The family of blackbirds also adore the mealworms. The local grey squirrel has also been seen taking the mealworms to the immense annoyance of my dogs.
Here’s a Wiggly Reply from Rachel
Gosh Dinah, what a freak occurance! How wonderful to get robins feeding out of your hand, its just a shame that it proved an easy catch for the sparrowhawk. Sparrowhawks are of course as much a part of our garden wildlife as robins and perhaps worthy of our respect for their dramatic speed and recklessness. If the sparrowhawk did not catch several birds a day it would starve. But you can lessen the risk of providing easy prey for them by not feeding your robins in an open and exposed location.

Great mealworms & fast delivery. I've found they last better if you feed them (using inexpensive - lasts for ages - wheatbran from local health shop ) AND now & then, sieve out the powdery, slightly smelly droppings (into garden compost bucket under sink), with an old sieve kept just for this purpose! Mealworms love it & stay very lively.
P.S If you feed robins from your hand as we have done, please watch out for sparrowhawks. A friend of ours had a robin taken right out of her hand by a hawk, in surburban Bromley. It's made us wary of encouraging robins to be so trusting. But it IS lovely to have them stand on your hand. We have a local hawk, so I'm all mixed up as to what to do.

Thank you for such speedy delivery of the mealworms. The robins in my garden love them and wait for me to come out every morning to feed them. The blackbirds also wait for them. I keep the worms in my greenhouse and one robin sits in there waiting for me. I leave him some in a pot and he goes in and out helping himself throughout the day, as do the blackbirds. They have all relied on them such a lot during this cold weather, so thanks for keeping me supplied. I would'nt be able to walk round my garden in peace if I didn't have some worms to dish out.

Wiggly Wigglers live mealworms are simply the best all year round food.Superb delivery schedule ensures they arrive completely fresh and they keep extremely well in the beer/wine fridge in the garage. My blackbirds and robins just luv em and arrive every day around 8am for their favourite treat of the day sharing them gracefully----it's fascinating to watch.

Mealworms are great. Unfortunately starlings love them, gobbling a dozen at a time. I have to chase them away so that the smaller birds have a chance. I also find hanging a large fatball will keep them occupied whilst bluetits nab the live food.
PS Great service from WW!

How could you complain!? I've ordered worms on many occasions and have never been disappointed. They always arrive the next working day and come brilliantly packaged for safety and protection for the worms. We have a family of Robins every year who come to us for food and one even eats them out of my hand as soon as it hears me rustle the paper. I share them with all the birds in the garden, they all deserve live worms and all young birds benefit from them. However I personally have a soft spot for the robins and find myself buying them from early spring until late summer! Can't recommend wigglys worms highly enough and will continue to order them year after year. Thank you!

This service is great. I've been receiving meal worms for ages now.
FEED YOUR WORMS:
I DO recommend that you feed your meal worms before you offer them to the birds. I put them all into a large bowl and add cut up apple, potatoe or carrot, they also love old bread and (wait for it) OAT CAKES; these are their favourite.
In a day or two they are twice as juicy and tasty for the birds. In my tiny gardens (front and back) last year we had THREE birds nests.

Also excellent food for other beneficial wildlife. The other day a wasp was in my live food feeder dish busily cutting a mealworm in half as a whole one was too heavy to carry. It flew off with the rear portion to feed the larvae in the nest. Wasps also take caterpillars and other pests from the garden so I'm happy to be helping them out as well.

I have been feeding my wild birds with Live Mealworms since February. I have several feeding points but my favouite is the window feeder. I have witnessed a Robin, Wren, Chaffinch and Sparrows all taking them for their young and it is the middle of July and the babies are still coming. Watch out for the Blackbirds though, they are very greedy.
