Ensuring birds receive a plentiful and calorie-rich diet is an ongoing challenge. See the Difference™ Bird Food Cakes, unlike other top brands, feature double the fat content, resulting in a significantly higher calorie count. This amplifies the satisfaction of each feeding session for hungry birds.

These suet cakes, rich in fat, are suitable for year-round use, whether placed in a feeder or on a bird table. They are particularly advantageous during spring, providing crucial support to busy parents raising a new generation. Additionally, they serve as a valuable resource in winter, when temperatures decrease, and daylight hours are limited.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Feeding Suet Cakes to Garden Birds:

Q: What birds enjoy suet cakes?

      • A: Suet cakes attract a variety of birds, including woodpeckers, chickadees, nuthatches, and titmice.

Q: How should I offer suet cakes to birds?

      • A: Suet cakes can be placed in specialised suet feeders, hung from branches, or inserted into suet cages to provide easy access for birds.

Q: Can suet cakes be used in warm weather?

      • A: While suet is a high-energy food suitable for colder months, choose no-melt suet cakes or place them in shaded areas during warmer weather to prevent melting.

Q: Can I mix suet cakes with other bird foods?

      • A: Suet cakes are typically enjoyed on their own but can be paired with seed blends or mealworms to create a diverse and appealing menu for birds.

Q: How often should I provide suet cakes?

      • A: Offer suet cakes year-round, but they are especially beneficial during winter months when birds require extra calories to stay warm.

Q: Are there any birds I should be cautious about attracting with suet cakes?

      • A: Suet cakes primarily attract smaller clinging birds. Larger birds and squirrels may also be interested, so consider using baffles or feeders designed to deter them if necessary.

Q: Should I provide water alongside suet cakes?

      • A: Yes, always offer a fresh water source. Birds need water for drinking, especially when consuming high-energy foods like suet cakes.

Q: Can suet cakes be stored?

      • A: Store suet cakes in a cool, dry place to prevent melting or spoilage. Check for any signs of mould or rancidity and replace accordingly.

Q: Can suet cakes attract unwanted pests?

      • A: Regular cleaning of suet feeders and offering the appropriate amount of suet can help minimise the risk of attracting pests.

Q: Can suet cakes be used to attract specific bird species?

      • A: Yes, suet cakes are particularly effective in attracting insect-eating birds like woodpeckers and chickadees, enhancing the diversity of your garden bird population.
