The perfect compliment to an Urbalive Worm Composter - the perfect way to use the cracking worm compost to grow some plants in the most attractive of ways.

The Urbalive planter will be an excellent tool for you if you plan to build or expand your home garden. Jiří Pelcl, a leading Czech designer, gave it a modern look by combining plastics with wood. Plastia contributed its long-term experience and know-how in the production of self watering containers and planters.

The Urbalive planter is suitable for interiors and roofed terraces. It is perfect for houseplants, flowers, herbs or less demanding vegetables. Its tall design and wooden legs provide easy access to plants, placing them at a pleasant viewing height. The sophisticated self-watering system simplifies care and, along with vermicompost and worm tea, helps maintain optimal conditions for healthy plant growth.

The self-watering planter is a system of two interlocking trays, where the bottom portion serves as a water container and the upper part holds both substrate and plants. Water is brought up into the substrate using a textile wick. As the plants grow larger, their roots grow through to the bottom and will be able to absorb water on their own. An air gap between the trays ensure a necessary supply of air to the roots. Thanks to this system, your plants have exactly as much water as is needed.

For a great peat-free alternative to soil, why not use some of our coir blocks (compressed coconut fibre) to get your planter started? 2-3 blocks soaked in water will be ideal.

If you need a guaranteed Next Day delivery then please choose the Next Day delivery option. If you order on a Friday then the delivery will be with you on the following Monday. Please note there are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays. You must order before 1pm for your order to be sent to arrive the following working day. If you order after 1pm then your order will be shipped on the next working day.

Important - Highlands and Islands

IF your order contains JUST live worms and is under 2 kilos - whether that’s composting worms, wax worms or mealworms you will have the option in the checkout to choose standard delivery at £3.95. This is because we can use Royal Mail for this service. Otherwise you will see the extra cost options for a courier to deliver your package – please note there is no guaranteed next day service to these areas so please allow extra time and track your package for information.
