Farmers Weekly Awards

When Wiggly Wigglers was shortlisted as one of the three finalists in the Farmers Weekly Alternative Enterprise award, we were very pleased as this would definitely mean a trip to the Ballroom at The Grosvenor in Park Lane London. And so last evening togged up in our best frocks (well Farmer Phil was wearing his 45 year old dinner suit...) off we toddled.
And before we knew it Fiona Bruce had announced the UK winner of the Alternative Enterprise Award and it was us!! There was another winner from Herefordshire - Dairy Farmer of the Year Henry Lewis. Check out the whole event here.
It really struck me what a contrast last night was to a lot of reports of negative farming issues in the press. Last night was a real celebration of excellence, forward thinking and communication. The room was buzzing with enthusiasm for farming and the environment, and by the way I've spoken about LEAF before on this blog and many of the finalists and winners last night were Leaf members, including Ian Pigott who had the original idea for Farm Sunday last year. This year Farm Sunday will be on Sunday June 10th and Lower Blakemere will be a part of it.
Look out for a great post tomorrow from Simon Sherlock - a Wiggly customer on what he likes and dislikes about Wigglys and this and that. Watch this space
