This is our recommended Worm Cafe start-up system. It includes the Worm Cafe Housing and a generous supply of composting worms, plus a selection of extras to help make your composting go smoothly. It's all you need to start successful composting (or to introduce a friend to its delights).
The Kit comprises a Worm Cafe Housing and a Value Pack containing: a bedding block, 500g (approximately 1000) native composting worms, 2kg Lime Mix, 2kg Worm Treat, 1 Moisture Mat and Instructions.
Our worms are despatched in special packaging to ensure they reach you in top condition but they will need to be transferred into bedding in the kit within 2 to 3 days. So, if the kit is being sent as a gift or will not be set-up on arrival please order it with a voucher, this can then be redeemed when the kit is ready for its worms.
Which kit is right for me?
The Kit with Worms gives you everything to get started from the off including the live Worms. This will need setting up as soon as possible.
The Kit with Worm Voucher includes a voucher instead of the worms. This will allow the unit to be stored before setting it up. Ideal for a gift where it may not get setup for some time. The voucher can be returned to us when you're ready to receive the worms.
The Value Pack Only is everything APART from the unit itself. Ideal if you have inherited a Worm Cafe, or you have one you want to restart from scratch.
All kits produce 'worm tea'. Kitchen waste contains lots of water, as this breaks down it percolates through the worm casts and makes 'worm tea' - a really good liquid fertiliser. Best of all, it's free for life!

I'd only ever tried composting in a haphazard sort of way (chucking peelings on a heap at the bottom of the garden) and always gave up because of rats. The best thing about the worm cafe is that you can do the right thing without fear of rodents! I bought my cafe in January and my first batch of lovely compost is nearly ready. The worms are busy and healthy and my plants are loving their regular supplies of worm tea. Everything about the worm cafe is so convenient. Its size and appearance is unobtrusive in my small garden, the hinged lid makes it really easy to use, and the sturdy construction means it's proof against rain and wind. I love it!

The Worm Cafe, like a Can-O-Worms but, err, different :) Had mine for about a month now and impressed with how well it fits into the corners with it's improved shape. The c-o-w can be hard to lift with being round and heavy but the Worm Cafe is easier to lift and position and looks a little less obvious outside the back door. The air holes on the side rather than the lid also mean less rain water getting in which leads to dryer and happier worms but less worm tea to use as fertiliser.
So basically, it's an elegant and easy on the eye piece of kit that fits almost anywhere and is made to the great high standard of the c-o-w (but with sturdier legs/feet).
I love mine and it is now a major piece of my composting set-up.

Fabulous worm composter - highly recommended. I've tried other worm composters in the past - notably the 'converted wheelie bin' type, and have suffered total disasters. The contents became anaerobic, and the waste became compacted in the bottom, killing the worms.
The Worm Cafe solves all of these problems, with the neat tray system. Much better than the Can-o-worms in my view for three reasons. 1) The oblong shape fits into a corner of the garden. 2) The hinged lid makes it easier to add waste. 3) The air holes are not in the lid, making it less likely for the wormery to fill with rain water.
My Worm Cafe is now on its second level, and is going really well. The worms look healthy, and the waste is being composted down really quickly. Well done Wiggly Wigglers!
